The Vale of York is situated in Thirsk, an old fashioned market town that lies between two of the country's most remarkable National Parks - the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.

Thirsk also boasts The World of James Herriot centre, a tribute to vet and author James Herriot based in his original surgery at 23 Kirkgate, the 'Skeldale House' of his books.
